I'm not PC. I'm Ubuntu.

Why Ubuntu is so much better than Windows or Mac

Ubuntu is Linux

Ubuntu Linux  (pronounced, oo-BOON'-too LIN'-ex)  is a superior operating system which runs on any PC - new or old.  Ubuntu even runs on a Mac.

Ubuntu is beating Windows & Mac in the operating system wars, in that Ubuntu has a far faster growth rate than Windows or Mac.  (New York Times)

Free

The price is right.  Ubuntu costs exactly $0.00.  It's free in every sense of the word.

All Software is Free on Ubuntu

All Software is Free.  Every piece of software you've ever heard of - like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Photoshop, Quicken, Quickbooks...  all software...  has an equal or better, free open source version, that's free.

Ubuntu Software is Equal or Better than Windows Software

All Software is equal or better than Windows and Mac  - every piece of software you have every heard of, like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Photosphop, Quicken, QuickBooks, you name it.

Ubuntu runs all Windows Software too

Ubuntu can even run all Windows software.  In fact, Ubuntu can even run a complete copy of Windows itself, inside a special window called VirtualBox.  Windows runs even faster this way (inside of Ubuntu), than running natively.

No Such Thing as a Virus on Ubuntu

There's no such thing as anti-virus software on Ubuntu.  Why?  Because there's no such thing as a virus.

No Such Thing as Adware or Spyware on Ubuntu

And no such thing as spyware.
Why?  Because Ubuntu is the only desktop operating system that is truly secure.
Ubuntu Linux is superior in security.

Ubuntu is Easier to Use than any version of Windows or Mac

Ubuntu is easier to use than any version of windows or mac ever has been - ubuntu is so intuitive, you could use it and not even realize you're using it.

Ubuntu is the most Secure computer Operating System

The only Secure Operating System - there's no such thing as a virus in ubuntu - and it's not becuase they aren't trying to write viruses, it's because ubuntu is the world's only truly secure mainstream computer operating system

The Entire Internet runs on Linux

The vast majority of the Internet - the computers that run the web sites of the internet - run on Linux.

The Smartest Companies in the World, like Google, run entirely on Ubuntu

The smartest companies in the world, like Google for example, run using Linux.  In fact the Google Search runs,

You Already Use Excellent FOSS Software - like Firefox, OpenOffice, etc.

Ever heard of Firefox?  Firefox is the Ubuntu web browser.

Free Open Source Software (FOSS) is a Good Cause for all Humanity

You can use Ubuntu on on Any Computer - ubuntu runs on almost any pc hardware... (even some apple mac models!)
Ubuntu's Open Source software is equal to, or better than, any Windows software, and completely Free.
On Ubunutu, all software is free. It's called FOSS (free open source software).
There are literally millions of software titles to chose from.
You install software with one click.  Free.  You uninstall it with one click.
All software updates itself automatically as new versions become available... not just the operating system.
When new software is installed or updated, no reboot is necessary.  It's 1,000 little conveniences and improvements like this that make Ubuntu so wonderful.
There are Free Open Source applications for every purpose - superior equivalents to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Photoshop, Video Editing, Quicken, Quickbooks, you name it.  But Ubuntu software is all always Free.
You can share all documents with Windows and Mac users because Ubuntu's OpenOffice applications are even more compatible (with more other versions), than Micosoft's Office is (even with other versions of Microsoft Office itself!)
Ubuntu requires far less computing power than Windows, so you can take an old dusty computer out of the closet and install Ubuntu on it and it will run faster than most brand new computers running Windows or Mac.

Ubuntu is Freedom

With Ubuntu...  there is...
Ubuntu is superior in hardware and driver compatibility.
Ubuntu is superior in ease of use.
Ubuntu is superior in reliability.
Some people run Ubuntu for years without ever rebooting.  How long can Windows or Mac run without restarting?  Hours?  Minutes?
Ubuntu is free -- as in "free beer" -- Ubuntu costs nothing.
Ubuntu is free -- as in "freedom".

Ubuntu liberates you from the Big Brother domination of the closed proprietary prisons of Microsoft, Apple, and all the rest...

The years of proprietary corporate domination of your computer, and your wallet, are over.

Ubuntu is Freedom.

Ubuntu is the Future.

Change my whole operating system!?  Are you nuts?

It's not as scary as it sounds...

There are simple ways you can take Ubuntu out for a "test drive", without even installing it...  and without touching your Windows, software, data...  without even touching your hard drive at all...

Test Drive Ubuntu

Without touching your hard drive at all, you can boot your computer from the Ubuntu CD.  You will actually be running Ubuntu...  but running it from your CD drive....  without touching what's on your hard drive.   This gives you a brilliant first look at Ubuntu running on your own computer.  Remember, it's going to run very slowly because it's running from your slow CD drive instead of your hard drive.  Also, this is not a long term solution.  This is only for a brief "test drive".  Running any operating system from your CD drive for an extended period of time is not recommended (excessive use will burn out your CD drive.)

Install Ubuntu "Inside" of Windows

To give it a real try, install Ubuntu "as a Windows application" inside of Windows.  This way, you can try it out for real...  and if you ever want to, you can un-install it with one click in "Add/Remove Programs".    Simply boot your computer into Windows, then go to the Wubi Ubuntu Installer site, Wubi-Installer.org and click Download Now.  After downloading completes, double-click that EXE file that was downloaded.  You will have Ubuntu installed WITHIN Windows... in a matter of moments.   Uninstall it any time you want to, by clicking in Add/Remove Programs from your Control Panel.

How can something so Awesome be Free?

With the old closed proprietary paradigms of Microsoft, Apple, et al... growth, development of new features, new compatibility and interoperability, are all extremely slow to come about.  ...if they ever do.

One small top-secret closed development team must make all improvements on their own.

It's all about closed proprietary exclusivity...  and profit... at your expense.

With Free Open Source Software (FOSS) - like Ubuntu, Firefox, OpenOffice, etc. - all development is done by (effectively) volunteer programmers, from all over the globe, who donate their services... and donate the results of their efforts... for the global good of mankind.  Some are for-profit corporations who donate to the effort.  Most are individual programmers, from every country on the planet, working nights and weekends for a common goal... to benefit us all.

The entire global Open Source Community of developers is working hard 24/7, in every nation on Earth, to make continuous improvements, and remarkable innovations. They also come from an "open mindset", so their developments feature more interoperability and connectivity with everything else - hardware, software, and the newest internet technologies.

With FOSS (Free Open Source Software), it's all about connectivity...  and the resulting benefits for all of humankind.

What's in it for you?  How do you make your money?

We don't.

We are doing this only for the good and benefit of all humanity.   That's the whole point.

We volunteer and donate our time and money to continuously make Ubuntu better and to share it with people we care about.

No, we don't even make a cent on the t-shirts.   Your cost is our cost.

Ubuntu (uːˈbuːntuː in English, [ùɓúntú] in Zulu) is a free computer operating system based on Linux. Its name comes from the Zulu word "en:ubuntu", loosely translated as "humanity" or "A person is a person only through other people". Ubuntu provides the most modern stable operating system for any user, from novice to advanced, with a strong focus on usability, ease of installation, and total compatibility with all hardware and software. Ubuntu is the most popular Linux distribution by far.
